The Retreat at Dallas; The Church with Open Arms
Earlier this week, I ordered stationary and business cards for our new church start. Everything came in today. At the top of the business card there are three phrases;
A place of grace A place of love A place of acceptance
That's a good summary of what The Retreat will be about.
A place of grace.
The scripture says Jesus was "full of grace and truth." I believe in grace.. Paul said "For by grace are we saved..." (Ephesians 2:8).
I heard of a lady who was having a picture made. After having the picture made she was viewing the proofs. As she looked at them she said "These don't do me justice!"
The photographer responded, "Lady, you don't need justice; you need grace!"
We all need grace. The Retreat will be a place of grace.
A place of love
Today I was watching an interview on CNN.. The interview was with the Father of a young man who died in military service. At his burial a church protested. The Supreme court issued a ruling on it in the last day or two. As CNN interviewed the man he said "It bothers me how much hatred there is in this country."
I agree. The gospel is about love and The Retreat will be a place of love.
I'm reminded of the old Coca Cola song;
"What the world needs now is love, sweet love.. It's the only thing that there's just too little of."
A place of acceptance
The Retreat will be open to everyone. In our logo the letter "t" is created in a way that shows arms open to the world. As I looked at it today I thought "we are the church of open arms."
Grace...love... acceptance... That's who we are. That's what we will focus on. If you are looking for that.. join us. We will greet you with open arms.
