Merry Christmas from the Potts family

Merry Christmas from the Potts family!

We hope you and your family have had a good year. It's been a year of change for our family.

First, as many of you know, my Dad's health has been rapidly declining. Daddy has had Parkinson's for a while but this past year he really began to decline, so much that, around Thanksgiving, we had to place him in Kentwood Manor nursing home. I never thought my Dad would be in a nursing home, but it's happened and he seems to be adjusting ok.

Second, with our boys moving out, Holli and I are beginning to deal with the empty nest. Now, this may not be a big deal for lots of people, but it was a big deal for me. I love my kids and it was tough for me to see Robert and Will move out though I've done better than I thought I would.  Let me update you on the family.

Robert is a senior at Kennessaw State. He plans to graduate next May. Robert is working part-time at Belk and finishing up college. In addition to college and Belk, Robert is very involved in politics. He was chairman of the College Republicans and assisted on campaigns in our area. I call him “Little Newt” (Newt Gingrich). Lol

Will is a junior at Kennessaw State. Last year he attended Shorter, but he decided to transfer at the end of his sophomore year. He and Robert are renting a house together in Kennessaw. Will is majoring in education and plans to teach and coach.

Sarah is a senior at Paulding County High. During the summer she dislocated her shoulder and thought she would miss competition cheer season. To her coach's delight she only missed one competition though she was unable to tumble as she would have liked. Also, she's been elected President of her senior class. Her plans after graduation are to attend Kennessaw State, major in elementary education and move in with her brothers. Most of Sarah's spare time at home is devoted to her long-haired chihuahua. Bella, her Christmas present from last yearHolli continues to teach at Paulding County High. After 4 years as Varsity coach, she happily handed that job to some else and now is the junior varsity cheer coach.

A little about the church. A couple of highlights this year. In the spring, we had another good high  attendance day. In the fall, Rick Stanley, step-brother of Elvis Presley, spoke in our church. Also in the fall we hosted a Beth Moore simulcast.

On a personal note, I have completed a project that has been a goal for a little over a year; I have published my first book. It is entitled Inspiration From The Stained Glass. In 2009, I preached a series of messages on the scenes depicted in our stained glas windows. The book is a compilation of those messages. You can go to my blog at www.greggpotts.com for more information about it. And, if you would like to order one, I will be glad to ship it or I will bring some with us when we come home for Christmas.

Merry Christmas!

Gregg, Holli, Robert, Will & Sarah
