The greatest Christmas gift ever

This evening Holli and I did some  Christmas shopping.  And, we were definitely not alone.  The parking lots were full and stores were busy.  Lots of people were shopping.
Within the next week, many gifts will be opened.
Some may get something electronic... maybe an ipad or a wii or a big screen tv.
       Others will  get clothes.
       Others may get jewelry.
And, others.. those nice gift cards.
Any of those would be nice gifts and I'm sure I've overlooked other things that would be nice gifts.
But the greatest Christmas gift ever given came 2,000 years ago when Jesus Christ was born.  Jesus was and is God's love gift to us.  Jesus came into the world to save man from his sin.
From the  beginning of time, man had offered sacrifices and tried to keep religious laws and observed religious festivals in an attempt to get right with God.  But nothing man did could solve man's sin problem.  As a result, man had to have a Savior.
God recognized man's problem.  God could have turned his back on man but He didn't.  And, God didn't help man because man deserved it; man had never been faithful to God.  In the Old Testament, the people  of Israel were constantly disobeying God.  But in spite of their disobedience God  loved them.
So God looked down  upon man and knew that man had  to have  a Savior.  The only person  that could save man from His sin was God's son, Jesus Christ.  So, God sent Jesus to the earth; born of a virgin and wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
Jesus ministered for three years and ultimately went to the cross to die for the sin of man.  On the cross, Jesus took our sins and  paid the price for them.  And, that's the focal point of this post; Jesus is the greatest  Christmas gift ever given because He paid the price for our sin.
       Jesus loves us.
       Jesus forgives us.
       Jesus accepts us.
There is nothing you have ever done that Jesus won't forgive.
Let me repeat that; there is nothing you have ever done that  Jesus won't forgive.
This Christmas, the greatest Christmas gift ever is waiting under the tree for you.  God wants you to open it.  It's his gift to you.  It's his son, Jesus.  Let him love you and give you meaning in  life.  Jesus loves you just like you are.
