"I'm wrong."
"I'm wrong."
Those are two very difficult words for most of us to say. Our pride can make it difficult to admit that we are wrong.
But, according to Rich Devos, those two words are two of the most important words we can say. Devos wrote a book entitled Ten Powerful Phrases For Positive People. The first powerful phrase Devos lists is "I'm wrong."
Devos says "I'm wrong" is the "hardest of the (10) phrases to say and genuinely mean." He adds "Saying I'm wrong is meaningless unless it comes from our heart, not just our lips. That often requires a genuine and profound change within ourselves because we need to accept that we can be wrong."
"I''m wrong..." it means admitting we have made a mistake.
"I'm wrong..." it requires us to humble ourselves.
"I'm wrong.." can be the magic words to heal a strained relationship.
The Bible tells a story that is known as "The Prodigal Son.' The story is that of a man who tells his Dad that he wants his inheritance and he wants to go away. His father gives him his inheritance and the young man goes to a city to have some fun. In time, he spends all his money and finds himself at the bottom. Then, he realizes that his father's hired hands have it better than he does. So, he comes to his senses and decides to go home.
All the way home he rehearses his speech fully expecting his father to give him a lecture As he gets close to home, his heart begins to race, his palms become sweaty and his mouth becomes dry with anxiety. But. to his surprise, his father embraces him and orders his servants to prepare to have a party because his son, who was lost, has come home. (Luke 15).,
It may be that you are afraid of admitting you are wrong. If we will do it, the Lord promises to forgive us.
And, there may be someone to whom you need to go and admit you made a mistake. You haven't done it because you are afraid of their response. You can't control them, but you can control yourself. If you go to someone and admit you are wrong... if they don't receive it... they have the problem, not you.
Today, if you know you are wrong, admit it and experience the forgiveness of sins or the restoration of a strained or broken relationship.
