I'm glad Daddy called
This morning my phone rang. The number indicated it was my
Parents. Nowadays, when that number comes up, it's normallly Momma
because my Dad is dealing with Parkinsons.
I picked up the phone and it was Daddy. I was surprised. "How did He remember my number?" I thought. I found out later that Momma actually placed the call because Daddy thought he needed to talk to me.
As I answered the phone, Daddy started talking and basically, rambling. He's 70 years old now.
There was a time when his mind was sharp. He read several papers a day. In fact, that was his evening routine. He would sit at the snack bar and read the papers. He read The Morning Advocate from Baton Rougel, LA. the Daily Star from Hammond, La & the McComb Enterprise Journal from McComb, Ms. He took pride in being well informed. In addition to those, He read Hoards Dairyman, Progressive Farmer and news magazines. I guess I've inherited that because I love to read. I just use a Kindle now instead of the actual paper.
I'm being honest here.. maybe transparent is a better word... I've ministered to people for 29 years... but this time it's my family. Don't know if that makes sense to you who will read this post but it does to me.
I've learned in the last year, to say "I love you" more. As Daddy & I talked I closed out with "love you, Daddy."
He replied, "Love You, too, Man." That was his word for me when I was little.
Daddy's health is failing. Quicker than I thought. My sisters live closer to my Parents than I do so they see more of it.
I'm glad he called... even if he rambled...
