We have all made mistakes
Recently, I was watching an episode of “NCIS”. Gibbs is interrogating someone. The lady is explaining that she made a mistake prior to her marriage but she is reluctant to say what the mistake was.
Gibbs, trying to encourage her to talk says “I’ve been married four times. I’ve made every mistake in the book.” Hearing this, the lady begins to open up.
We’ve all made mistakes.
Some people are afraid to make decisions for fear of making mistakes. And, that fear prevents them from being decisive.
Some people have made mistakes and don’t want to make mistakes again.
Some people have been told THEY are a mistake!
Mistakes can paralyze us.
If you live and do anything, there is a chance you will make a mistake. But, that shouldn’t keep us from acting.
Are you allowing a mistake from the past to hold you captive? If so, the Lord wants to set you free.
In II Corinthians 5:17 Paul said “Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
That great theologian, Willie Nelson once wrote;
“I’ve got a long list of real good reasons for all the things I’ve done
I’ve got a picture in the back of my mind of what I’ve lost
and what I’ve won.
I’ve survived every situation, knowing when to freeze and when to
run.
Regret is just a memory, Written on my brow,
And there’s nothing I can do about it now.”
So, if you have made a mistake, know that you can start over. It doesn’t have to hold you hostage.
