Summary of The Sermon 4-26-09

Yesterday was "Friend Day" at First Baptist Church.  We had a good crowd and several guests.  I am looking forward to making some phone calls and following up on our guests and hopefully, some of them will, in a few weeks or months, become members of FBCD.
My message yesterday was taken from Revelation 3:20.  In  that verse Jesus says "I stand at the door and knock; if anyone  hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him and he with me."  In that verse we saw that Jesus wants to have fellowship with us.  There are four things we saw about Jesus invitation to fellowship.
      I.  The Person Who Extends The Invitation.
Jesus said, "Behold I stand."  Jesus is interested in all of us.  He knows our concerns and needs.

II.  The Parameters Of The Invitation.
Jesus said "If anyone hears My voice."  The invitation is open to anyone who will invite Christ in.  We looked at the lives of some people who made mistakes but Jesus loved them and used them.
    A.  Simon Peter
Simon denied the Lord three times yet, following the resurrection, Jesus specifically said he wanted Peter to know that he had risen."  Peter preached the first Christian sermon in history on the day of Pentecost.
    B.  The Woman At The Well
This lady had major issues in her life yet, Jesus met her and ministered to her.
    C.  John Mark
Mark abandoned Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary journey yet, God used to write the Gospel of Mark.
Jesus invitation to fellowship is open to anyone who will invite him in.  Doesn't matter what transgressions lie in our past.

III.  The Prerequisite Of The Invitation.
Jesus said if anyone will ".... open the door."  Jesus doesn't force Himself on anyone.  He has to be invited in.

IV.  The Promise Of The Invitation.
Jesus promised "I will come in."

I  closed the message with part of S.M. Lockridge powerful description of Jesus "That's My King."

Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, wants to have fellowship with you today.  Will you invite Him in?
